GROUND HANDLING
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The recently imposed Carbon Tax on private aviation, by the Portuguese Government, has not been implemented at Lajes with no horizon date. Please read about this issue on the Airport Information section.
1. In order to arrange your flight via Lajes airport, please contact an handling agent. They will take care of all your needs. There are three ground handling providers at Lajes airport:

2. For state flights, please note these are exempted from taxes and VAT payment. For those flights not requiring handling by any of the above mentioned companies, this is provided at no cost by the military airport authorities.
3. For humanitarian and ambulance flights, please note these are also exempted from paying taxes and VAT, provided the operator, when requesting the tech stop, presents proper documentation issued by the entity that charters the plane, certificating the purpose of the flight as humanitarian and nature of consigned goods.
